Believe it or not I had to tidy my room to fit all the junk in that was needed.

key:

  1. Badly modded case on ancient desktop, bits of this came out of a 386, Athlon 1.3 running windows and Linux. Famous for possibly being the only > 1 gig PC with a 5.25 inch drive.
  2. "Server" piertopier's new splash and radius server - thown out by Varndean College
  3. 12 port 10 base swich with the fan out of a flymo, "I knew it would come in handy".
  4. Prism 2 wifi card, with updated firmware. Turns laptop into wireless repeater
  5. Old laptop Running Windows and netstumbler in vain attempt to keep an eye on what is going on. Equipped with an orinoco silver card, second hand off ebay, flashed gold card firmware.
  6. Main laptop - windows still half broken, but linux works, laptop bought off ebay, cheap, bulges under monitor are where internal wikfi antennae don't really fit. Contains atheros wifi card borrowed off moving-edge.
  7. 19" monitor bought to play counter strike, those where the days, currently showing breezy badger installer.
  8. Linksys access point off ebay, original firmware removed and replaced with custom piertopier net firmware. "Rusty 0.2"
  9. 4 gig hard disk contains linux, exact lineage unknown.
  10. KVM swich allows more confusion as to which pc your sshed into.
  11. PC lubricant, an empty tin of Badger's Tangle foot an some Fursty Ferret bottles (Gribble inn good....)
  12. Heatsink I found while I was plugging radius server in.
  13. Soundcard, removed from radius server. Probably should have gone straight in the bin.
  14. Cisco Sticker, yeah right, like I can afford cisco kit (the linksys doesn't count). This sticker is actually a left over from the Ron Dom Texel cat race in Holland and not Geek Related at all.

The total processing power of that lot combined is less than a new PC! That'2s including the 125Mhz processor in the Access point - yep its a Linksys version 1.1. 2.4Ghz. Total.

Not shown in the picture is the contents of my lounge, which contains the server running this, another old Derelict. Another 2 wireless access points, an old PC acting as an access point a HP laserjet printer (the oringinal laserjet 1) and a 5 foot long anntenna.
